Surroundings

The refuge in summer becomes high altitude pasture and then you will find the typical animals of the pasture as cows, horses, goats and other animals. But, being the Malga in a Natural Park of the Dolomites you will also have the chance to meet some wildlife typical of this areas as chamois, ibex and marmots.

EXCURSIONS – WALKS

  • From the car park on the main road (St. Hubertus), starts the paved road that leads to the hut, and 2 paths that we always advise, so you’ll be able to enjoy even more the nature and also not to be hindered by traffic. Both leads to the hut, the 1st is the “low path” at the left of the road; the 2nd is the “high path” to the right of the road and you take it after about 200 mt. from the bar at the top of the first climb along the paved road.
  • ALPE DI LEROSA
once you reach the Malga, take an old mule track that leads up to Alpe di Lerosa after about 1 hour walking; from there, there are 2 options for descent : one is signed as “strada militare” back to the refuge. The second is to continue on the trail that goes along the other valley called “Gotres” that leads to the location of the “barracks” on the main road to Cortina-Dobbiaco. The descent along the Gotres valley is about 1 hr. ALSO FOR BIKES
  • CRODA DE R’ANCONA
from the refuge take the trail that leads to Alpe di Lerosa (1hr. Walking) and from there climb a path that leads up the mountain (about 1 hr) which is a large open-air museum of war with various barracks, trenches etc.
